Las Vegas — Tuesday, November 28, 2017
I’m out in Las Vegas at the AWS re:Invent conference, and it is definitely the best re:Invent I’ve ever attended. Like everything in Vegas, it is larger than life!
Looking around, I’m impressed by the massive scale, terrific coordination, and good old fashioned “sign holding” to help manage the crowds — which are numbering in the tens of thousands. And as you’d expect, there’s a huge program that has more than 1,000 breakout sessions, multiple hackathons, bootcamps, workshops, and more.
In case you didn’t know or somehow forgot, Amazon Web Services is the 500 pound gorilla of the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) space. You’re quickly reminded of this as soon as you set foot in any of the resorts and convention centers that re:Invent 2017 is being held in.
The Venetian, one the primary conference centers, is hosting many of the sessions that are devoted to AWS-centered topics. The hub of the show — the Venetian’s Expo Center — is the gigantic space where all the vendors are located. Also of note is the MGM Grand Convention Center, where the security sessions are being held.
The energy level is through the roof. There are enormous crowds everywhere — in the convention halls, in the huge and highly efficient check-in area — and it’s all taking place against a backdrop of DJs playing everything from the Beach Boys to tech house classics.
Threat Stack at the Show
When the Venetian’s Expo Center opened at 11:00 a.m. this morning, Threat Stack’s booth (#204) was immediately flooded with visitors.
We’ve got a big team on site, so drop by to say Hi, pick up a T shirt, talk Security, and watch a Demo of our intrusion detection platform. We’re looking forward to helping development and security teams alike understand how Threat Stack can help them can protect their AWS infrastructure.
