Patrick Cable Talks Trash
Patrick Cable, Threat Stack’s Director of Platform Security, presents Trash Taxi: Taking Out the Garbage in Your Infrastructure.
Pat will speak about how to balance the need to grant occasional superuser access with the incentive to ensure that changes make their way back into configuration management, while reducing the risk of configuration drift. As part of his presentation, Pat will explain how his team built Trash Taxi to help understand why people use “sudo -i,” and also clean up hosts that have had arbitrary commands run on them by “taking out the trash” as in terminating them.
Location: Business Hall (Oceanside), Arsenal Station 4
When: Wed, Aug 7, 10:00 a.m.–11:20 a.m.
Track: Network Defense
For a preview, take a look at Dark Reading’s summary of Trash Taxi’s superuser discovery and cleanup capabilities.
